Shame & Guilt in the Arab World
|
Shame & Guilt in the Arab World provides the Western thinker with a framework for understanding Arab—and Asian—culture and mindsets. The average American constructs the majority of his perception of the Arab world from anecdotal information and observations revolving around customs, gestures, and acceptable topics to discuss when doing business in the Arab world, or from anecdotal information divulged by deployed personnel. This course instead shows the evolution of value systems to allow us to see the bigger picture. Without understanding the three prevalent dynamic value systems in the world today—power/fear, honor/shame, and innocence/guilt—the divide can never be bridged. Through this course, participants have an opportunity to build a more cohesive understanding of Arab and other cultures.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will have gained a more credible understanding of Arab value systems. They will be better equipped to structure future information and observations into a dynamic framework that fosters more complete interpretations.
Who Should Attend: Intelligence, Law Enforcement, and Military personnel
Length of Course: Half (1/2) day
